Waving From the Shore
While modern photographic equipment encourages the “capture” of every detail of a subject, I’ve found that sometimes, in doing this, the image doesn’t accurately represent what I actually “saw,” or, even more importantly, what I felt. In creating these photos I deliberately limit detail in order to increase the sense of what I experienced when at the scene. For example, I didn’t see the crest of single wave in an expansive sea, but I experienced a rhythmic ocean roll onto the beach while reflecting an orange sunset in its purple swirls.
