From childhood I’ve always respected the apparent guidelines and rules in attempts to create art. I colored inside the lines. This discipline provided pleasing but unoriginal images and rarely conveyed the sense of play or exploration that could lead to photographs that cause viewers to pause. I’ve finally given myself permission to experiment, to fool around with my camera in a way that allows me to combine everyday objects in unique ways. These images have much more in common with Paul Klee than with Ansel Adams.
