Covering Morandi
The images in this collection have been inspired by Giorgio Morandi, a notable Italian 20th century painter who devoted his artistic life to creating art from bowls, dishes, glasses, cups and household containers in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. Morandi never tired of examining the emotional responses he derived from composing each still life and then painting it. His work inspired me to explore whether it might be possible to create similar responses to photographic images of the same type of objects that I composed into a still life. The experience has taught me that there is as much value in the process as there is in the outcome.
